Social Egg freezing - also called egg banking . It is advisable for women over the age of 32 yrs who want to delay child bearing. Here hormonal injections are given for around 10 days for controlled ovarian stimulation followed by egg retrieval. Egg retrieval is done under sedation and USG guidance. These eggs can be cryopreserved for use later on. Egg freezing done at younger age can give highest quality eggs which are used to create embryos using IVF. The embryos can then be transferred inside the uterus.
